Movement Facilitator

My name is Kuljeet Singh (aka Kay) and I am a mum to two boys; aged seven and eight years old. I reside on a lifestyle block in Tauhei where we have plenty of chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, and a cat to keep us entertained. I have always enjoyed the freedom of movement that yoga allows and the journey it has taken me on to date.

I began my teaching career after training in Children’s Yoga. After discovering the power of movement for children I have continued to grow my knowledge and have completed my Yoga Teacher and Trauma Informed Movement Facilitator (TIMF) Training.

My teaching style stems from my own self-care and self-compassion, I am committed to offering an embodied movement practice, enabling one to allow for their own body, mind, and breath connection.

I offer gentle hatha style movement, pranayama (breath regulation), guided meditation and deep relaxation in a safe, inclusive space which is suitable for all levels.

I look forward to sharing my offerings with you.

Testimonials

“The yoga session is run so well. Whaea Kay builds a great relationship with the students very quickly. The students love going to every Yoga session, and even tell her they have missed her since she was here last. Each session is tailored for the students and is both achievable and challenging. She takes them on a journey in every session and builds upon the previous learning after each session. Parents have mentioned that they are learning the moves at home as the students are teaching them and telling them all about it. A few families have said they make yoga a part of their evening routine before going to bed, led by the kids themselves. The yoga that Kay leads ties in so very well to our inquiry for the term, and well as our school values and the key competencies. She does an absolutely amazing job. We would recommend her and her yoga to every school, and hope that others have the opportunity to benefit as much as our students have, and will continue to have as she continues in our school.”

“Kay has an amazing ability to engage with children, they quickly warm to her and are eager to see her every week. I was lucky enough to have Kay onboard for a children’s mindfulness and yoga programme last year for a group of year 3 children. The children were selected for the programme as needing to learn calmness and thoughtfulness and they showed much improvement during their journey. It was fantastic to hear the children recalling the techniques and poses and reminding each other.

They would always go back to class more settled and brighter, ready to learn. Kay has a large range of games, cards and props to help her teaching, the children especially loved the singing bowl as a calm and relaxing way to finish each session. I happily recommend Kay, she comes with lots of ideas and is so open to suggestions, she really wants to develop a programme that works for all concerned.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions,”
